Special events continue to be an important
part of Healing the Divide, and we hope you will participate whenever
possible. Keep returning to our website for official announcements
on these and other events.
In September of 2003, Healing the Divide was publicly launched at
a benefit concert at Avery Fisher Hall, Lincoln Center, which featured
an opening address by His Holiness the Dalai Lama and performances
by Philip Glass, Anoushka Shankar, Tom Waits, Foday Musa Suso, and
many other world-renowned musicians.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama visited New York City to impart his extraordinary knowledge of inner peace and profound wisdom during a remarkable five-day visit in September of 2003. His Holiness gave four days of teachings to a sold out audience of 3,000 at the Beacon Theater and addressed a crowd of more than two hundred thousand people in Central Park.
Most recently, in October of 2007, Healing the Divide hosted His Holiness the Dalai Lama for three days of teachings on the Vajra Cutter Sutra and Nagarjuna's Seventy Verses on Emptiness at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. The Teachings were followed by a sold out public talk on Peace and Proseprity. The New York events underscored the magnitude of the ensuing Congressional Gold Medal presentation to His Holiness, marking the 2007 visit as a uniquely historic affair.
This was the fourth time that The Tibet Center and Richard Gere, along with his public and private charities, joined together to host His Holiness' teachings in New York.
